Green Mark News Post

The International Family Law Group LLP is delighted to announce that we have been awarded Green Mark Level 1 accreditation – becoming the first specialist family law firm in the country to gain this prestigious accolade.

Green Mark provides an internationally recognised environmental certification for companies that want to assure their clients and employees that they are conducting business to recognised environmental standards.

In order to gain this accreditation we provided detailed information about our business, our practices and our approach to the environment. Following the implementation of small but important changes in the way we work, our actions were carefully reviewed by an independent auditor and we have since been awarded our Green Mark accreditation.

Green Mark helped us as a firm create a framework to make sure we have the correct tools to monitor and reduce our emissions and our environmental impact going forward, as well as communicating internally and externally how we are doing this.

The International Family Law Group is proud to be a sustainable business and we are seeking to ensure that the way in which we do business reflects this. We will endeavour to do so by various means, including:

  • Increasing efficiency within the firm in terms of how we operate
  • Actively seeking to monitor and, wherever possible, reduce our waste and negative environmental impact of our business
  • Ensure that our wish to be sustainable permeates all aspects of our business operations
  • We ensure that our staff are aware and are encouraged to share our values
  • We do what we can to spread the word within our industry and beyond. We want to be seen as a leading firm in the legal world for these issues, in the hope it spreads awareness specifically in the legal sector
  • We have put together a detailed action plan, setting out strict benchmarks in relation to the reduction of our carbon footprint
  • In terms of litigation, we have resolved to take on a “green litigation” promise, including:
    1. We will correspond electronically, as opposed to hard copy
    2. We will limit hard copy bundles and documentation wherever possible
    3. We promote the use of electronic bundles
    4. We seek for parties or witnesses to attend electronically if possibleWe avoid unnecessary travel in and around courts, by coordinating with other lawyers
